What Dental Professionals Are Saying
“I provide better dentistry with less stress in the Coburn environment. It is one of the best investments I have made in my 25 years of practicing dentistry.”
John A. Anderson, Jr., DDS
Grand Forks, North Dakota
“The Coburn units are a work of art, clean lines almost minimalist… so well designed you risk taking them for granted. Everything is in its place. My productivity has greatly increased.”
Doug Jones, DDS
Kitchener Ontario
“We have been enjoying our Coburn treatment rooms since their installation in March 1999 and continue to set new records of productivity. Our work patterns are more efficient because everything is within easy reach. The beautifully contoured Corian counters are easy to clean. We’ve had consistent high praise from patients on how great Coburn looks. This is so important for the emotional side. It builds confidence.”
Jerry Milner, DDS
Austin, Texas
“The system I chose for my six operatories is the Coburn Environment, an excellent product with extraordinary developers and product support. I give it an unqualified five star rating.”
Dennis M. Whiting, DDS, MS
Stevens Point, Wisconsin
“I absolutely love the design. Functionally, it just makes sense.”
Kristen Hill, Chairside Assistant

Long before I planned to renovate my office, I saw the Coburn system at a dental convention. I remember thinking at that time that the Coburn system appeared to be so carefully designed and of such a quality that it would be ‘the ultimate in luxury’.
Little did I realize that several years later, after much searching, questioning and comparison, there was nothing ‘out there’ in the dental world that made any sense in dental treatment delivery in comparison to Coburn. The designer of the Coburn system had spent many years practicing dentistry, studying the ergonomics of dental treatment, and had the operator’s efficiency, health and comfort in mind.
Since our dental office renovation 3 years ago with all 4 operatories with the Coburn system, I have been able to work with my body in an optimal position with respect to the patient, with all equipment within easy reach. The hand numbness, arm, shoulder and neck discomfort, for which I sought therapy, have disappeared.
The design and quality of the cabinetry, the clean surfaces, all combine to increase the patient’s confidence.
Having all of the equipment behind the patient helps to diminish their anxiety. In our situation it was possible to place a large window in each operatory in front of the patient which they appreciate, and becomes a focus. The compact design is so carefully planned, nothing has been missed.
We have had several pleasant surprises:
- The working triangle of operator, assistant and patient works for all shapes and sizes of assistants.
- Handicapped patients in wheelchairs have been able to receive treatment in these operatories.
- The assistant has everything she requires during treatment at her fingertips.
I can without hesitation recommend the Coburn system to dentists who wish to provide efficient treatment to their patients in a clean, compact environment, without physical strain. The quality is well worth the investment.

I have had the pleasure of working with the Coburn (Danse) treatment room system since March 1999. Two years later, I am completely convinced it was the best choice. The treatment room design is the foundation of a well-planned dental office. A properly designed treatment room addresses the needs of the dentist, the assistant and the patient. This would include the broad categories of appearance, ergonomics, utility, ease of maintenance. The Coburn system excels in each one of the areas.
The following is a detailed list of my observations from working with the Coburn system:
The dentist side:
- The counter top height is ideal on my side. This includes the sink and desk area.
- The location and access of the disposables is great and makes it easy to get ready (towels, mask, gloves).
- The tinted lexan screen in front of the disposables adds to the beauty of the design and is functional too.
- The view box and monitor are ideal for quick and easy reference during a procedure.
- Location of handpiece, suction and air/water syringe are convenient for the assistant and me (yeah!).
The assistant side:
- Loads of reachable counter top space for complete setup of all materials and tools. Especially helpful during extended or multiple procedures. This is a unique feature and, by itself, would distinguish this design from any other. The lack of assistant side counter top space is the major complaint I have heard from assistants in my 21 years, when discussing what they would change in the treatment room design.
- Good storage and access for procedure tubs, backup supplies, equipment.
- EASY TO CLEAN, EASY TO STOCK.
- Quick access to computer keyboard, out of the way when not in use.
The patients feedback:
- I have gotten consistent high praise from patients on how great it all looks. This is so important for the emotional side.
- They also thinks it looks “Clean”. This is super important in the age of infectious diseases.
- There is nothing hanging over the patients’ body and they like that.
- They (we) really like having big mirrors handy so they can see my excellent work. It makes the rooms look bigger too.
- The Corian counters are a real bonus. Patients think they look great, especially with the rounded edges and curves. (Any stain is easily sanded away). It adds an extra sense of quality.
My summary would be simple: It looks great, works great and feels great. When patients consistently comment on how good these treatment rooms look, I know I made the right choice.
Please call or email if I can answer any questions.
Sincerely,
Jerry Milner DDS
P.S. As a point of reference, I had finished out two different dental offices before building my current building. I had custom designed dental cabinets in each. In addition to that, I have worked in a total of seven other offices as an associate and partner (at least six months in each one) plus two public health clinics. This has given me a wide exposure to all the variables in a treatment room layout.
My clinical assistant has 26 years of treatment room expertise and has worked in many offices over the years. There is no question from her point of view; this is the best system she has ever seen.
